We are a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit international organization headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan with operations in Kenya. The organization aims to increase access to education and training.
The vision for the organization emanates from the personal life experience of the Board Chairman, who grew up in Kenya. He organized the Opening Village Doors Foundation and attracted additional Board members. Each member joined because of identification with the vision of the Foundation: interest in Africa, interest in empowering others, interest in philanthropy, providing a hands-on experience, streamlined decision-making, and direct impact on people.

OUR WORK
Nurturing Academic Potential through our Scholarship Program
In rural Kenya, educational dreams are often limited due to financial constraints. The government focuses on urban schools leaving many in rural areas without essential educational resources.
Opening Village Doors Foundation's (OVDF's) Scholarship Program is a beacon of hope, breaking barriers and empowering children with education to overcome poverty. OVDF has sponsored more than 45 children to date and aims to extend support to 25 to 30 more kids in 2024.
Children have already been sponsored, and our goal is to increase this number to 75 in 2024, empowering them through education to combat poverty.
